The movie will be set in the same world as the video games but features an original story that expands the series' mythology. The movie started shooting last August 2015 then finalized last January 2016. Assassin's Creed is scheduled to be released on December 21, 2016 in France and United States.

Through a revolutionary technology that opens his genetic memories, Callum Lynch (Michael Fassbender) experiences the adventures of his ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th Century Spain. Callum locates that he is descended from a peculiar secret society, the Assassins, and amasses incredible knowledge and skills to take on the oppressive and powerful Templar organization in the present day.

Kurzel's film will debut in December, six months after Duncan Jones's tough Warcraft, which trailers so far suggest might find itself weighed down by its own video game legacy. The film's background as a multiplayer games seems to have convinced Jones to throw in a multitude of colourful orcs and humans, with the fear beigh that few of them will really stand out for who have not played the game.
