PNP Director Ronald "Bato" Dela Rosa had placed Philippines under terror alert level 3 on Thursday December 1 as he presented the 2 suspects behind the foiled bombing incident near the U.S embassy.
Dela Rosa advised the public to be alert and vigilant, and during the terror alert level 3 mobile checkpoints and 'Oplan Sita' will be in operation.
The PNP Director also stated he could say that this incident wont happen again yet assured that the PNP and AFP are trying their very best to secure the country.
The suspects behind the bombing plot were arrested in Bulacan on Wednesday, identified as Rashid Kilala and Jiaher Guinar, both are part of the "Ansar Al-Khalifa" alliance of terror groups, which includes Maute Group.
The suspects initially planned to target Luneta but the bomb failed to detonate, which they transferred to Roxas Boulevard near the embassy.
Dela Rosa said that the suspects seek to gain recognition and funding from the Islamic State and divert military's attention from its offensive scheme against the terrorist group Maute fighters in Lanao Del Sur.
Due to this act, the suspects will face charges of conspiracy to commit terrorism and illegal possession of firearms and explosives.
