Aces rookie Carl Bryan Cruz took his debut as 'Alaska Aces' rookie player to be much impressive than anyone thought.
He may have the least popularity of the 'Gilas' players seleted in the PBA Special Draft but it only took his impressive debut in his current team.
Though a heartbreaking loss against NLEX in a standing of 99-97 on the Philippine Cup 2016 fifth elimination on Nov. 25, 2016 at Smart Araneta Coliseum, Cruz did a great job for nailing the game with 20 points, 14 rebounds, and two steals, even though he did not expect to get any minutes.
“Actually I wasn’t expecting to get any minutes because I’m just a rookie. But I’m always prepared if coach calls my number,” said Cruz.
During his 4 years collegiate career with Far Eastern University, Cruz hits the charts averaging just more than four points and three rebounds.
After UAAP Season 77, he left the Tamaraws and started his PBA career with Café France in the PBA D-League, his profound plays drew attention of scouts leading him to became an integral part of 'Gilas' pool.
Cruz stated that there is no competing between him and his teammates in 'Gilas' and outstanding performance in his debut is just a proof of all the and sweat and hard work, and determination on his career.
“There’s no competition, I’m just focused on my career here in the PBA,” Cruz Said.
