President Rodrigo Duterte pursue his independent foreign relationship vision by aiming to make good terms and stronger ties with Russia.
On Tuesday, Duterte said that he expects to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin in a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the Asia Pacific Cooperation (APEC) summit in Peru from November 19 to 20.
On a statement, President Duterte exclaimed that he aims not only for a good economy partnership with Russia, where we could purchase goods from them and export products to them but a strong bond with Russia much more like ‘Best of Friends’.
“If there are things we can sell them or we can export… eh, di mas maganda. If there are also things that they own or can sell to us and it can be put to good use, we can buy those things, “ stated by the President.
He also added, “ I just want the countries to be best of friends, and this is an economic world,”
Duterte also told the press that the meeting would possible come to happen as he requested for it.
