It took Ten years to create, the indie film "Saving Sally" movie will finally be shown in theaters for the first time in history as an official entry for the 2016 Metro Manila Film Festival.
"Saving Sally," a film that mixed 2D animation with live actors, is one of the 8 entries that will be shown in the annual all-Filipino film fest, which opens every December on Christmas Day.
But not like the other entry, "Saving Sally" has long been in the line, and began shooting as early as last 2005.
That's how long been the film's lead, Enzo Marcos, waited patiently for a chance for the movie to be shown in theaters.
After the initial filming in 2005, the movie came to a halt due to lack of funds. French film producer Alain de la Mata, who was amazed with the work of film director Avid Liongoren, decided to join in and help with production.
"We had to do a reshoot. We did the whole thing all over again," Marcos said to one of the reporter of ABS-CBN News.
However, the movie's original "Sally," Anna Larrucea, was no longer available to do the film, which meant the crew had to look for a new partner for Marcos' character. After a long audition process, a new girl lead was given to Rhian Ramos.
Marty is an aspiring comic-book writre and artist who is secretly in love with his girl best friend, Sally, the any-gadget inventor. Like every love story, there are troubles: Sally has monsters for parents and a boyfriend, while Marty has the ability to do nothing about everything despite his vivid fantasies of defending the love of his life from the big bad cruel world.
