125 MIMAROPA Barangays are DRUG FEE - PNP

The regional police of the Mimaropa region, which has a negligible number of drug war mortalities, has recently announced 70 more barangays as drug-free.

Chief Supt. Wilben Mayor, director of the Mimaropa (Mindoro Oriental and Occidental, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan) regional police, said the new barangays cleared brought to 125 the total number of barangays cleared of illegal drugs since the drug war started in July last year.

“Though the personnel of the Philippine National Police were ordered to cease and desist from conducting anti-illegal operations like buy-bust, service of search warrant, continuous monitoring and evaluation is still being conducted,” said Mayor.

“As a result, additional 70 barangays were declared drug-free,” he added.

Mayor said PNP-Mimaropa at first cleared 55 barangays in five areas of the district since July 1.

He said 10 more barangays were announced drug cleared in based on the PNP and other concerned offices.

A large portion of those recently announced drug free barangays are in Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan.

Mayor said the request of President Duterte to keep the police far from the war on drugs won't absolutely disable their neighborhood campaign against unlawful drugs.
