An eight year old boy from Cebu went on viral when a video of him singing carols in Naga Baywayk in Cebu spread out in social medias. Rufino Tapdasan caught the attention and hearts of netizens not only by his talent but by his remarkable and heart melting story.
For most, singing carols has been a part of celebrating the holiday season, but for Tapdasan, singing carols is more significant for him as it is his way to collect money in order to support his nine-month old baby sister.
Tapdasan lives in Sitio Lower Magdoc in Naga with his grandmother. His mother left them while his father is in prison. No one to rely on for their daily needs, this pushes the third grader to make these trips.
The eight-year old boy dreamed to become a police officer someday and he is putting all his heart to it. Despite this situation, Tapdasan is determined to pursue his studies, as everyday he takes a 40 minute walk to reach the school. His determination and effort seems to be paying off as he is praised by his teacher for being proficient in math.
