President Rodrigo Duterte’s followers may be celebrating the People Power anniversary far from its old-style venue, but it doesn’t mean that it’s less significant than the celebration on Edsa.
For Bobby Brillante of the Mayor Rodrigo Roa Duterte National Executive Coordinating Council, it was a decent unforeseen development that their rally harmonized with the EDSA revolt commemoration.
“I think the celebrations are complementing because February 25 was a celebration of freedom… We want to make sure that freedom and democracy will continue to stay,” he said.
A large number of Duterte's supporters assembled at the Quirino Grandstand in Manila on Saturday night to back the organization's war against unlawful drugs and destitution.
Among the gatherings welcomed were the PDP Laban, Friends of Rody Duterte, Kilusang Pagbabago, Hugpong Federalismo and other individuals' associations.
Brillante included that some rallyists who originated from the EDSA commemoration celebration at the People Power Monument will go along with them also.
Sunday's program will be gone to by legislators supporting Duterte, including Manila leader Joseph Estrada.
