After distressing a family tragedy, Mack Phillips [Sam Worthington] suffered into a severe depression causing him to question his innermost beliefs. Facing a crisis of faith, he receives a mysterious note advising him to an abandoned shack deep in the Oregon backwoods. Regardless of his questions, Mack trips to the shack and experiences a mysterious trio of outsiders drove by a lady named Papa [Octavia Spencer].
